This hot chocolate is rather dark and angry. I used dark cocoa powder + 85% dark chocolate to make a deep, dark mug of holiday cheer.

I did add a bit of turmeric AND it totally works since chocolate is earthy and turmeric is earthy. Earthy ingredient + Earthy ingredient = delicious mocha hot chocolate. Who knew?

Turmeric Mocha Hot Chocolate
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 2 cups coffee
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate, chopped
- 3 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- scant 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- scant 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- pinch salt
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir frequently until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Pour into 4 mugs. If desired, line the mug rim with a bit of nut butter.
