I wrote a post a few years back on my old blog (The Professional Palate) about why I wouldn't make a good mommy-blogger. Folks loved it, and so much of it rang true with my fellow moms. Basically, it said I stink at all the traditional mom stuff... you know scrapbooks, crafts, selflessness... basically anything Pinterest throws in your face to make you feel guilty about being a slacker mom.
And even though I acknowledge I fall short when it comes to parties and play dates, I do try to keep my kid's health and well-being top of mind. I guess maybe that's just the "basics" I'm supposed to do as a mom. But healthy food, a safe home, (mostly) clean clothes and abundant "I Love You"s aren't a bad way to grow up. Or at least that's what I tell myself on the days that seem less like a Norman Rockwell painting and more like a Calgon commercial.
My guess is I'm not alone and that many of you, like me, would fail a Mom of the Year screening, at least in your own mind. But I'm betting what you feed your kids is top of mind.
Back to school season is here (and if you don't believe me, consider that my oldest son goes back to school Wednesday. Yes WEDNESDAY), and it's time for the deluge of stories about back to school snacks and foods for kids. But what about families who have someone eating gluten-free... what about yummy back to school foods for them?
We've gotcha covered with this round up of our favorite gluten-free, kid-friendly recipes that the entire family will love. You may not win any Mom of the Year awards with these recipes, but it's a darn good start!
