I'm not a margarita drinker.
I mean, I drink margaritas on occasion. But on the whole, they aren't my go to drink.
Tequila makes me fiesty.
Sugary lime syrup makes me sickly.
And a fiesty, sickly Regan isn't a guest that anyone wants to have at their party.
The flip side of the equation is that I'm not much of beer drinker either. So often times, I find myself at a loss for the best drink to enjoy with Tex-Mex and similar fare (I have a very odd story about eating Mexican food in a very non-Mexican food eating European city recently. Ask me about it sometime.)
Anyway, when I heard today was National Margarita Day AND I realized that The Recipe ReDux was tackling beverages on the same day, I knew just what to create:
The Beer Mangmosa
We'll consider this a way to avoid beer overload, while also keeping tequila on the shelf for braver souls. The addition of orange juice and mango gives that nice tropical feel that almost all of us could use a dose of after the ice, snow and winter woes we've been experiencing in most parts of the U.S.
Never thought about beer and oj together? I stole the idea from one of my favorite food bloggers/photographers, Taylor Mathis. It's really genius and definitely one you'll want to bookmark for football season tailgating (I know we're barely two months out from the end of NCAA football, but I'm always countdowning til that first fall kickoff.)
Not convinced that this type of beverage is what you'll be serving for happy hour? Looking for a non-alcoholic refresher or morning pick-me-up? Check out all the other drinks Recipe ReDuxers are working on this month.
