This post about popsicles didn’t start as a vegan popsicle recipe round-up. When it comes to my eating habits, I tend to be more of a flexitarian (flexible vegetarian) – I do eat meat and chicken occasionally but prefer fish, seafood, eggs and dairy foods when it comes to animal protein.
But while searching for some mouth-watering, “I got to make these NOW” popsicle recipes, I saw so many gourmet style frozen treats that were also vegan.
Which means so many people can enjoy these pops – from those who only eat a plant-based diet to any burger lover out there that wants to try to go meatless here and there.
And if you want to make your own popsicle recipe vegan - or extra flavorful, here are some tips:
- Use coconut milk or almond milk in place of dairy
- Roast or grill your fruit first (as a way to cut back on the sugar)
- Try agave or maple syrup if you need to use a sweetener
- Mash in avocado for extra creaminess
- Add in some fresh herbs (basil, thyme or mint pair well with berries) or try a dash of spice (nutmeg, chili powder or cinnamon pair well with stone fruit.)
