While I usually don’t host Thanksgiving, it’s one of my most favorite meals of the year and one that I enjoy best when the classic, timeless foods are on the table .

Except when it comes to dessert…and maybe the appetizers.

Don’t get me wrong – I want a traditional pumpkin pie there for sure but having a few more "out of the box" type desserts is never a bad thing.

A dietitian pushing extra desserts? Well, this meal comes just once a year so I’m going to have a small sliver of each offering, thank you very much.

My sister-in-law is hosting Thanksgiving and insists that we bring nothing. Which I’m translating to “an extra dessert can’t hurt” as my husband is one of 11 siblings and they are definitely dessert people.

So, I browsed around the Healthy Aperture’s photo gallery to get some inspiration and I’ve narrowed it down to these dozen delish looking, seasonal sweet endings -- each of which is a healthy Thanksgiving dessert.
